Mum’s Apple Crumble
Servings: 6 people
Ingredients
For the Crumble topping:
- 200 g plain flour
- 150 g cold butter
- 100 g caster sugar
- 50 g brown sugar
- 50 g rolled oats
For the Filling:
- 5 bramley apples
- 300 g Blackberrys
- 1 orange
- 60 g sugar
- 20 g butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Peel your apples, Cut into quarters and remove the core. Then roughly chop.
- Add your 60g of sugar into a frying pan. Place on a medium heat until you have a dark caramel.
- Add in 20g of butter and your apples. Cook down for 3-4 minutes.
- Then add your Blackberrys, zest of 1 orange and a juice of half the orange. Cook down for a few minutes. Taste and season and then place into your ovenproof dish.
- For the topping; add your plain flour and cold cube butter into a bowl. Rub the butter into the flour with you fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs.
- Add in both types of sugar and oats and mix to combine.
- Add the crumble topping on top of the apple filling. Add a few thin slices of butter on top with a tablespoon of brown sugar on top. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and bake in the oven for 40 minutes.
